JPI PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
We offer academic, vocational, and personal services for adults and youth who face major barriers to education and employment. Youth clients are age 16 through 21, have dropped out of high school, and are from households with a combined annual income at or below the federal poverty level. They enter the program to attain their GED, develop job skills, and deal with personal issues that present barriers to fulfilling their dreams for the future. Adult clients, likewise, seek our services in order to overcome barriers to education and employment and to learn to manage personal issues that are holding them back.
Abilene is a generous city with numerous ministries and social services available to people in need. JPI seeks to collaborate with other agencies whenever possible rather than duplicating services that are offered elsewhere. For example, we work closely with Abilene Adult Education and with the Workforce Center of West Central Texas. Similarly, rather than maintaining our own clothes closet and food pantry, we help clients to meet these needs through other agencies whose mission is specifically to provide food or clothing.
If all ministries and social services in the region are compared to a hospital system, then some of the agencies providing these services function like the emergency room, in-patient care, etc. In this analogy, Just People, Inc. is comparable to out-patient rehabilitation. We work with the rest of the "hospital system" to provide the best care possible to clients.
